Taylor Allen goes to Death Valley

New Jersey photographer Taylor Allen found the texture of stone added to the texture of these incredible shots from Death Valley.

CC: How did you find out about Coastermatic?

TA: An unexpected gift from my girlfriend, who bought me a set of four and then made me do the hard part - choosing which images to use. I loved how the site created instant previews from my Instagram feed, it was actually really fun to do.

CC: Any stories to recount related to the images you used?

TA: I decided to use several images from a camping trip I took in Death Valley. I love how the textured stone of the coasters contributed to the texture in the images. They are like little stone prints lying around the house.

CC: How have friends responded to your coasters?

TA: I think everyone is shocked by how absorbent they are, it seems uncanny. Great response though, I think they make fantastic gifts.

Canines on Coasters

Kacie Bill heard about Coastermatic through a TV show and ended up creating a set featuring her supercute Corgis as a Christmas gift. Look at these guys!

CM: How did you hear about Coastermatic?

KB: I saw Coastermatic on a TV show one day. It was about cool new products and I thought coasters would be great Xmas gifts! We love the coasters and our friends always make comments about them. We each picked a dog that we wanted to use! I even ordered a set for my mom with her pups on them.

CM: Who are the pups on the coasters?

KB: They are our Pembroke Welsh Corgis. First is Wallace, our 5 year-old. Then my mom's tri-colored Corgi Marley (6). Then our little girl Malibu, she is 7. The second photo is of all three of them playing at the beach - their favorite place to go!

Family Photos are the Focus of this Great Set

Family photos are the focus of this Coastermatic collection. Jason Ruston made a set each for his mom and grandmom for Mother's Day and they were a big hit.

CM: Any stories to recount related to the images you used?

JR: I recently moved from Toronto, Canada to be with my wife Barbara who lives in Hawaii. We met last August in San Francisco and got married two months later. Barbara has children, I have a dog. I wanted to remind my mother and grandmother that all is good and we are very happy. These photos were taken this past Easter.

CM: How did they respond to the coasters?

JR: They both thought the coasters were unique and a conversation starter. I could have chosen artwork or a different theme, but since they are photos of us that is where the conversation will most likely start. What are these? How did you get there photo on the coaster? That sort of thing.

Jason and Barbara Ruston co-own His+Hers Photography. Jason Ruston is the owner and graphic designer behind Ruston Design.

We love that Coastermatic is being used to create personalised gifts! Why not create a set for someone you love?

Shane Gilman has fun with coasters

Shane Gilman is a San Francisco-based commercial photographer, who loves using his Instagram photos to create unique gifts. These Coastermatic coasters featuring his girlfriend Deviné show just how fun coasters can be!

CM: How did you find Coastermatic?

SG: I found Coastermatic using Google. I was looking for Instagram gift ideas and these coasters are perfect! I just sent two sets to friends who recently celebrated a big birthday in San Francisco. They absolutely LOVED them!

CM: Who's the fun-looking person in the photo?

SG: She is my brilliant girlfriend, Deviné. We were shooting some headshots and this goofy shot is my favorite! We have many incarnations of this in our apartment. My favorite is this coaster, which sits on my desk.

Meet Leo and Teeny!

Seattle-based landscape architect Erika Matthias has found her cats Leo and Teeny to be a great conversation starter with this cute set.

CM: Who are these fantastic looking felines?

EM: Those are my two cats, Leo and Teeny. They are brother and sister, both cute and weird little beasts. Seattleites by birth, we moved to New York for 5 years and all just recently moved back. Those photos were in my apartment in NYC.

CM: How have people responded to the coasters?

EM: I'm getting my best friend a gift certificate for her birthday coming up because she loved the concept of her Instagrams as cocktail conversation. Which is probably why people like them in general, great conversation starters. I like that mine are pretty graphic and stand well on their own as compositions in the circle format.
